Planning your most special holiday can be quite a daunting task. You want everything to be perfect; the destination, the hotel, the food, etc. Well here is one sure-shot winner. Koh Samui is about one hour’s flight from Bangkok; this little island is perfect for that romantic getaway. The faultless sandy beaches, the state-of-the-art resorts, the lavish seafood dinners and foot massage - it’s a match made in heaven!
As soon as you enter the vibrant airport of Koh Samui, the city stresses start to evade. The tropical and laidback aura of this place is strong enough to relax any stressed out soul. And remember what you see at the airport is only a precursor of what you are going to witness on this paradise land.
While choosing a hotel, make sure to go for something that’s not too close to the commercial hubs; instead opt for something that’s a little outside the city centre. Ban Sabai Sunset Resort and Spa is one such accommodation located about 50 kilometres away from the airport. An adorable boutique hotel, it offers different types of rooms to match every couple’s budget. The sunset Jacuzzi Room offers the splendid view of the sundown and the Private Villa lets you enjoy optimum Thai luxury. All couples are given one hour complementary massage session, which you aspire, never gets over. The orchids on the bed and daily exotic fruit basket will only make you fall more in love with Koh Samui.
Most luxury accommodations in Koh Samui have their private beach. Moving about in the city is also very easy. You can either ask your hotel to arrange for a car, or venture out on your own by renting out bikes. Make sure you book the bikes through the hotel as there are chances of getting ripped off. You can soak up the sun at the beaches or grab some adventurous eats from the roadside stalls. There are hordes of by-lanes offering locals products, handmade t-shirts, and other knick-knacks. Although, Koh Samui is not the place to go berserk shopping. Most of the stuff here comes from Bangkok and the prices are hiked up.
If you want a honeymoon with an edge, then plan your trip around the Full Moon Party. Held every month at the Koh Phangan beach, around 20,000 locals and tourists attend this party and kiss all their inhibitions goodbye. International and Thai DJs spin the most radical techno and trance numbers and the whimsical crowd dances to them till the wee hours of the morning. Make sure to leave all your priced possessions back at the hotel when going for this event. And by all means, stay away from strangers trying to sell you drugs, unless you want to experience Thai hospitality in prison as well!
Over the years, Koh Samui has also become a preferred destination to exchange vows. People from all over the world are ditching the traditional concept of spending a fortune on a lavish party and are heading to Samui with just a few loved ones to say “I Do”.
