Seafood Ahoy!

Prawns, lobsters, crabs, fish rubbed with spicy marinades and simmered to perfection - that’s what Mumbai city has in store for seafood enthusiasts. Mumbai’s seafood is considered to be the yummiest best, next only to the home-style seafood you get in Goa! Being a coastal city, Mumbai serves absolute fresh catch. From spicy patra-ni-macchi to kolambi masala to prawn gassi, you’ll find a gamut of coastal recipes from all over India right here in Mumbai.

Go Goa!

So you miss the feel of nibbling on the crispiest pepper prawns, dreaming away on a beach shack? Not sure about the latter but Mumbai can certainly give you a taste of authentic Goan delights! Highway Gomantak in Bandra (E) offers great coastal cuisine at pocket-friendly prices. It is famous for its fish curry, teesriya masala, kolambi masala, fried Goa mussels and thalis. And if you’re in Bandra (W) head to Saayba for some lip-smacking prawn masala, crisp fish fry and fish tikkas. For Goanese delight, try Viva Paschim in Worli. Vegetarians will not be disappointed at Goa Portuguesa. It has great veggie options like the ulai roast and vegetable chettinad curry. If you’re not worried about loosening your pouch strings, experience Goa at Soul Fry Casa. They serve yummy prawn rechard, golden fried prawns, the hottest neer dosas and coldest beers.

Malvani Meal

Malvani food is all about flavour and spice and all things nice! Want to experience Malvan? Drive down to Ratnagiri! Regulars swear by the bombil fry and kolimbi bhaat served there. Another Malvani haven is Gajalee Coastal Food. It has the most traditional Maharashtrain food on the menu, with star items like oyster fry, stuffed crab, fried bombil, surmai kurkure and prawns ambat tikhat. Why, Mumbai also has its own Mini Malvan! Mahesh Lunch Home is almost synonymous with seafood. It is popular for unique dishes like chicken appams and squid gassi.
