A Day Well Spent With Your Friend!

The first Sunday of August is just around the corner. It’s now time (officially) to celebrate friendship, to exchange greetings and coloured bands to ‘rank’ your friends. Get set for Friendship Day! But let me ask you this. Do you really need a hallmark holiday to show someone what they mean to you?

Given the hasty life we lead, if we could only manage to wring out some time to call an old friend and catch up, it would be proof enough to show that we care. Go ahead, do just that! Take time out, explore these cool ideas and get planning…

  • Going to the movies may not leave enough scope for all the catching up, but it is fun nonetheless, especially when you and your friend have common interests. Romantic comedies, drama, sci-fi or action, pick a genre that you’ve grown up watching together and when the good ol’ memories come bouncing back, you’ll know you’re in the right place!
  • It’s great to catch up over coffee and it’s even better to catch up over a spa treatment! Though I mostly see the fairer sex taking this idea, everybody could use a little love and pampering. I’m sure your friend would enjoy the experience as much as you. Be sure not to book a body massage though; if you’re looking at a fun gossip session with your friend, opt for a pedicure, foot massage, or nail spa so that you have your friend right by your side :-)
  • Why don’t you enroll yourself and your buddy in a dance, fitness or yoga workshop? There are many institutes in the city that conduct one or two-day workshops which are quick, convenient and absolute fun especially if you’ve joined in with a buddy.
  • How about a full-day jungle camp? If pottery lessons, rifle shooting, volleyball and basketball in the middle of nature’s wilderness sounds like your idea of fun, rope in a couple of friends and drive down to this Yeoor art-n-sports camp.
  • If you’re more adventurous than that, pack your bag (and your best friend) and set off to an adrenaline-pumping nature trek! Trekking groups are going to Rajmachi, Mahuli, Fort Peb and Chandratal. You could also try white water rafting at Kolad, para-sailing at H2O Water Sports Complex or some crazy waterfall rappelling at Khandala!
  • And if you prefer to kick back and unwind and enjoy a pleasant conversation with the friend, going to a restaurant may be a cliched but classic idea. Meet up for dinner or pig out over lazy Sunday brunch.
  • Be it a music concert or an Indian or Western classic recital, music is so much fun! And if there’s a little bit of performer in you, go for a karaoke night to The Banana Bar, The Tavern or Not Just Jazz By The Bay. There are many more events happening in your city, there is so much to choose from! Put a little bit of thought into it and I assure you’ll end up having the most fun, memorable day with your friend…
