Last year around October, while crossing a street a speeding motorcyclist pretended i was the invisible man and proceeded to run me over. It wasn’t too bad, 12 stitches and a busted ankle (Could have been worse, i would have lost my good looks) from then on began a nice little saga. I weighed in at 175lbs working my way to get under 170.

Then boom, couldn’t workout for another two months, got married, traveled around and when i got home i came on the scales at around 210 lbs. For those who cant visualize it Google the term beached whale. You will get the picture.

Anyway, since march, i have had constant ribbing about it and for the last month or so i have been gradually hitting the gym with regularity.

The aim is to get back to 175lbs before the year is out.
The Plan -
Spirits not Beer
Climbing not using the Elevator
Steamed vs Fried
Sweet n Low vs Sugar
Diet Coke vs Classic
Gym 4 days a week vs 2 days
Cardio at least twice a week
Weight Train at least twice a week.

For those looking for the easy way out i would recommend cocaine not weed, smoking vs not.

Good list, Gaurav. The most simple equation to remember for those trying to drop weight is this: calorie exertion>calorie intake = weight loss. That’s it. You don’t have to be a calorie counter to make this work, just generally be aware of your calorie intake. Also, aim for 4-5 smaller meals a day rather than 3 square meals a day - it’ll keep your metabolism up.

I’m actually on a mission the other way - when I moved to India, I weighed in at an athletic 185lbs. Now I’m down to a puny 165lbs. My main motive has been to gain some lean muscle mass, but more akin to a swimmer or runner’s body. Apparently, everyone in Mumbai thinks the only way to look after weight lifting is like Arnold Schwarzanegger.

Shirsha says:

‘Diet Coke vs Classic’

Make that ‘Water vs Coke’ ! ;) Jus kiddin’!

Also smoking => weight loss? Sure?

gauravjain says:

Shirsha, i need some fizz with my chow anyway smokes are a well known appetite suppressant.

i agree with the 5 small meals a day bit, its just you really need the time to go out and grab them 5 separate meals innit.

smallsquirrel says:

so let me get this straight… in order to get healthy, you’re going to do something unhealthy like smoke?

what that says to me is that you’re interested only in the vanity part and not the health part. :(

gauravjain says:

it was a joke.

at the end of the day, eat healthy, workout, be good, and still die.

you have choices, pick what you want. its not like you are getting out alive.

Sumfinn says:

Spirits vs beer? A better option than that I would say is wine vs beer. Or better still cocktails?

shakfoo says:

nothing wrong with vanity…at least the last time I checked!

thinktank says:

Want to cheat? Forget coke and “coke”. Tie 1kg ankle weights around your legs or your arms (or both arms and legs) and go about your daily business - the weights will burn calories throughout the day. This way u make your body work even when it is idle.

Get a Swiss ball and sit on it while watching TV - u burn more trying to balance urself on the wobbly thing - don’t try this if u have a back problem!

Saakaar says:

Just dont move to diet coke and sweet n’ low. Aspartame in these things is causing so many problems to people it is not funny. It is cancerous.

Sanity says:

to Quote “thinktank”

**-Tie 1kg ankle weights around your legs or your arms (or both arms and legs) and go about your daily business - the weights will burn calories throughout the day. This way u make your body work even when it is idle. **

Is this some kind of a joke?? LOL..There are better ways to burn off those cals, rather than strapping 1kG weights and moving around!!..Thats ridiculous!!

True.Aspartame is cancerous.I’d suggest u try Sugar-free natura or some other sweetner. It has Sucralose (Splenda) in it.That’s pretty safe.
