Denimology: Guide to perfect fit Jeans! March 9th, 2007

Ok now how many of us can acttually make out the difference between boot cut or flare or just perhaps straight fit or low waist? Come on, come on…its time to get the skeletons out of the closet now! If you can’t, need not worry your definately not alone! Here is all that you will ever know about denims….Read up now and thank me later as this article wont only leave you informed about the various styles in denims but also act as a guide inorder to find that one perfect pair!

Denimology!

Long Torso
Perfect Fit: If you want to show off that flat stomach go for a pair of low-rise jeans. Ideally you want a pair of jeans with a defined waist that will make your bottom half look sleeker. Long torsos should also try to wear a belt whenever possible, and go for jeans with zipper’s that are atleast 10cm long.
Avoid: Jeans with tight, stuffy crotches!

Heavy Hips
Perfect Fit: You should go for jeans with a bit of stretch so they’re comfy enough, and medium sized back pockets. Choose a jean with a low-rise waist and a slight flare to help to balance your figure.
Avoid: Styles with really big or really small back pockets and detailing across the back and big no-no to worn out denims especially when the butt region is concerned!

Short Waist
Perfect Fit: Low lying, hipster and super hipster styles will give you the illusion of having a longer upper half.
Avoid: Jeans with zippers more than 8 cm long and jeans with design near the waistline, you dont really want to attract eyes towards your short waist.

Curvicious
Perfect Fit: Go for designs with a flared leg, boot cut or pattern around the ankle area. This will help to direct attention to your calves…so make sure you’ve got some simply gorgeous shoes on as well!
Avoid: Fits that are tight around the thigh area and pointed or baggy styles.

Tall and Slim
Perfect Fit: Go for straight fits and just incase you want the attention towards your elgs go for something more flary along the outside length of the denim!
Avoid: Denims with a pointy leg. This will give only accentuate the size of your feet (and taller girls often have big feet) and make your legs look weird.

Petite
Perfect Fit: You look great in straight leg jeans, but if you’re looking to make your legs look longer, wear heels with a boot leg style, and make sure you go for dark-hued jeans.
Avoid: Styles with cuffed ends and the popular capris.

Now, don’t you agree with me that this was one of the most informative article on jeans ever? ….And as I always say…Glad to have helped!

Clothes that Suit your Physique! March 7th, 2007

Choosing clothes appropriate for your body type is definitely a good thing to do in order to grab the limelight. Flattering your assets and dressing up in a smarter way will not only attract attention but also release those so called “feel good” hormones within you which will make you feel even more confident about your appearance. So here’s presenting you a few fashion fixes that may help your problem areas visually disappear and also get ready to flaunt your true beauty!

Pear-shaped

Appearance: If your hips are wider than your shoulders and your thighs are round, you have a classic pear-shaped body!
Plus Points: Shaped waistline, soft upper body and delicate arms and shoulders.

Tops
Wearing well fitted t-shirts are better options than wearing something body-hugging or too loose for the upper body, this way you can attract more attention towards your torso. Too loose a top might make you look fuller over-all and too tight a top might make you look out of proportion with your lower half. Opt for brighter or lighter hues that attract attention. Tops made of a slightly stretch fabric does good for this body type and wearing v-necks and open-collars attract attention to your face which is always a good thing. For a more upbeat look, play around with funky razorbacks, vests, short sleeved tees, and sleeve-less or tube tops to accentuate your pretty arms and shoulders.

Bottoms
Choose dark colors for your lower body to give a sleek look. Straight cut denims blend well with heavy hips. In skirts, it’s always recommended to go for knee touching or slightly below knee lengths. Short skirts are a big no-no as they attract lot of attention to your hips. Skip pants or tracks with lots of pockets or zippers around the thighs.
Avoid patterns, prints and light hues; opt for a comfy pair of straight flare jeans or corduroy in darker shades.

Apple-Shaped

Appearance: The apple-shaped body is usually softer around the middle and has heavier upper body, with narrower hips and slimmer legs.
Plus Points: Slim legs and fuller upper body.

Tops
Avoid anything too tight that might make you look fuller and loose tops will make you look broader. Opt for cloths that skim your shape. Wear breathable fabrics like knits and full-stretch cottons. They’ll not only compliment your body but keep you cool as well. Avoid wearing full sleeves or puffy princess cut sleeves. Slightly deep-necks, v-necks and turtle necks are considered most flattering. Horizontal lines are a big no-no as they make you look broader whereas vertical lines will give you a more tall and slim look. Keep it simple and flirty by wearing light colors.

Bottoms
Experiment with textures, prints and the works. Show off those killer legs with short appropriate A-line skirts that suit your figure. In denims, you can always opt for flat-front non pleated styles that are slightly low-rise. Front pockets on pants might help in disguising a heavy tummy and pants with back pockets might help in defining a flatter rear which is common in this body type. Avoid wearing too tight bottoms as it may attract attention towards upper body heaviness.

Hour-Glass Shaped

Appearance: Hourglass Body Types have the most balanced body with fairly wide shoulders, defined waists and rounded hips.
Plus Points: Wide shoulders, slim waists, and well shaped rears.

Tops
You girls look great in about everything as you have balanced shoulders and hips. For sleeker looks play around with shorter tapered shirts and jackets nipped at the waist. Short sleeves look good but sleeveless and too much exposure of upper body is not recommended. Fitted tops look fab and compliment your body. Play around with cap sleeves, half sleeves, full sleeves and princess cuts. Almost all hues look brilliant depending on your complexion.

Bottoms
Straight skirts are a good option to show off your lower half. Slightly stretch denims suit this body type. Wearing over-all single color may make you look slimmer and taller. Tapered slacks, trimmed capris and fitted leggings show off your calves. Stone-washed bottoms are not recommended as they attract attention to broad hips. Solitary colors blend well with this physique.

Rectangular Body Type

Appearance: Well-shaped, but less curvy body shape, rectangle bodies are not necessarily petite or short and are very rare.
Plus Points: Shapely body overall with almost same bust, waist and hip sizes.

Tops
Shoulder pads in tees and various other styled tops and clothing that are puffed look great on girls with a rectangle body shape. Belts and knitwear will also look good on you and beautifully define your shape as well. Broader waist patterns and prints on shirts look good. Formal wear are more suited for this body type. Experiment with bold prints with brighter hues.

Bottoms
Straight cut, bootcut, and slightly flare denims look perfect. Stone-washed denims might just add the zing to boring routine jeans. Comfy tracks will give you a more sporty and outdoorsy look. Anything from one inch above knee to ankle-length skirts will show off your shaped figure. Clothing that is slightly poofed at the hips will look great of girls with sort of flat rears.

Please remember that the best look for all the body types mentioned above is to always wear clothing that is the perfect size and well fitted. Many girls who feel that they are overweight think that wearing large sizes will make them look thinner. This is not the case. All this will do is to make you look larger than you actually are and the same applies when clothes are too tight. So remember, don’t try to escape your shape…..Enjoy it! So go on you girls, what you waiting for? Face the world! Strut your stuff!
